SUMMARY:Seminar: From mining through to smelting
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the EIT RawMaterials-seminar on the topic “From mining through to smelting”\, and an info-event for the next Call for Innovation Projects (KAVA 6). \nThe idea of the occasion is to encourage people to submit proposals to the EIT RawMaterials Call. \nThe companies operating in the fields of mining- and steel industry keep presentations and outline some of their challenges across the entire value chain where they could need R&D and/or education support. \nIn the discussion part\, potential solutions are mapped where the University of Oulu could contribute. This gives an excellent platform for developing new project ideas for the next call. \nThe industry themes range from mining through to smelting: \n\nmine planning\, including but not limited to extraction operations\, safety processes\, environmental protection\nmineral processing design and operations e.g. processing rare earths and battery cell materials\nsteelmaking\, including material sorting and selection\, alloy design and upscaling\, process modelling and control\, designing by-products etc.\n\nPreliminary program \n9:00 – Welcome and introduction to the day \n9:10 – The EIT RawMaterials Call for Innovation Projects (KAVA 6) \n9:25 – Presentations given by companies + discussion \n11:00 – Lunch  \n12:00 – Presentations given by companies + discussion \n14:00 – Coffee \n14:30 – Presentations given by companies + discussion \n15:30 – Wrap up \n16:00 – Closure of the seminar \n\nRegister here
