SUMMARY:LKAB Deep Talk: Minerals for change – a zero emission future starts in the mine
DESCRIPTION:Minerals are essential in the transition to clean energy and a fossil-free future. A typical electric car requires six times the mineral inputs of a conventional car and the International Energy Association estimates that to reach the Paris Agreement objectives to stay well below 2°C global temperature increase\, mineral supply for clean energy technologies need to quadruple by 2040. \nMinerals and metals are the start of virtually every value chain\, from construction to farming and the supply of clean water. The mining and minerals industry has a unique opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation by supplying the needed minerals and developing innovative material solutions that reduce emissions in end applications while at the same time reducing its own environmental and climate impact. \nOne of many examples of how technology + sustainability drives development are LKAB’s new methods for recycling waste to value and connecting the mine to a circular economy. A future billion-dollar industry and an arena for closer cooperation between University-based science and the industry. \nTopics\n\nHow can mine tech enable cleantech and a zero-emission future?\nWhat is the importance of minerals in the global effort to mitigate climate change? And where do we mine them?\nHow can Swedish mines make the EU safer and industries more successful?\nHow can cities 200 km north of the arctic circle attract the talents and competence needed for the journey?\n\nFeaturing\nGöran Persson\, Chairman of the Board at LKAB\, former Prime Minister of Sweden \nBernd Schäfer\, CEO\, Managing Director of EIT RawMaterials \nTomas Naucler\, Global Leader of McKinsey Sustainability \nChristina Wanhainen\, Professor at Luleå University of Technology \nJames Lundström\, Head of Circular Economy at Volvo Cars \nLeif Boström\, CEO of LKAB Minerals \nDavid Högnelid\, Chief Strategy Officer\, Business Area Special Products at LKAB

SUMMARY:Q&A Live session with EIT Label Ambassadors - SINReM MSc
DESCRIPTION:EIT RawMaterials Academy invites all the interested students to join one of the live Q&A sessions on Instagram\, to give you the chance to hear directly from our EIT Label Ambassadors\, who are students and recent graduates of the EMerald\, SINReM and AMIS programmes. Take this opportunity to ask any questions you may have before submitting your application! \nEMerald MSc is an Erasmus Mundus and EIT-labelled master’s programme created to establish the right balance between knowledge of resources and process-engineering techniques. A sustainable supply of raw materials is vital for the future of Europe. Become part of our mission to achieve this balanced vision. \nSINReM MSc is a 2-year master programme leading towards the joint diploma of International Master of Science in Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management. Students graduating from the programme are also awarded the EIT Label Certificate\, demonstrating their innovation and entrepreneurship knowledge. \nAMIS MSc in Advanced Materials for Innovation and Sustainability\, is a programme of excellence that covers the whole value chain of raw materials by combining scientific knowledge with entrepreneurship\, innovation\, and modern teaching methods – in line with the standards and values of EIT RawMaterials. \nLive Q&A sessions will take place on the following dates \n\nEMerald MSc in Resources Engineering: 25 January 2022\, 15 CET\nAMIS MSc in Advanced Materials for Innovation and Sustainability: 18 February 2022\, 15 CET\nSINReM MSc in in Sustainable and Innovative Natural Resource Management: 23 February 2022\, 15 CET\n\nFollow the EIT RawMaterials Academy Instagram channel to watch the sessions and ask your questions! You can send your questions beforehand to academy@eitrawmaterials.eu or write a comment during the live session. \nIf you’re interested in the AMIR\, SUMA or RaMES programmes\, look out for an email announcing the dates of the live sessions soon! \nWe look forward to seeing you at one or more of the upcoming live events.
