SUMMARY:MIREU Workshop on skills requirements in the mining and metallurgy industry
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by AGH University of Science and Technology\nThe aim of the workshop is to exchange experiences between representatives of universities\, the mining and metallurgical industry\, administration and regulatory bodies in the scope of the future skills that will be required by the mining and metallurgical industries. Industrial revolution 4.0\, environmental restrictions as well as the needs of combinations soft and hard skills both by mining and metallurgy staff as well as administrative staff will be discussed. The workshop will result in working out common recommendations for future skills requirements\, that will be presented to the European Commission. Recommendations will also be the basis for further joint activities in the form of projects\, clusters\, workshops\, training\, etc. \nIn addition\, workshop participants will take part in the celebrations of St. Barbara at AGH. It will be an opportunity to establish new contacts with the mining industry (about 900 participants) and get acquainted with mining traditions\, thanks to which the continuous contact between the university and industry is maintained. \nSee the full schedule and registration link here.

SUMMARY:EIT RawMaterials Community Conference: „Implementing innovation for monitoring and re-activation of the European mining industry”
DESCRIPTION:This conference is a combined partner meeting of the EIT RawMaterials supported innovation projects RE-ACTIVATE and STINGS\, and a forum for monitoring and re-activation of former mine sites. Professionals from industry\, education and research will have the chance to discuss and interact with different stakeholders and decision-makers\, i.e. Romanian government officials and international mining experts. \nThis event will take place in Bucharest on 5 December\, followed by the project partner workshops on 6 December. The venue for the first day is the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Romania and for the second day the “Politehnica” University of Bucharest. Organizers are DMT and the Ovidius University of Constanta. \nRE-ACTIVATE: Developing superior technical infrastructure throughout EIT RawMaterials community to foster technologies and methodologies for re-activation of former mine sites\nRe-opening of old mine sites bears many challenges in environmental\, technical\, social and economic questions. Thus\, RE-ACTIVATE is an expert network with a single point of contact\, which offers innovative services\, technologies and solutions for all related issues and demands. \nSTINGS: Supervision of Tailings by an Integrated Novel Approach to combine Ground-based- and Spaceborne Sensor data\nCurrently\, there is a lack of an integrated operational approach for the management of structural and environmental risks related to tailings operations. For this purpose\, STINGS aims to develop an integrated monitoring system combining space-borne remote sensing\, ground-based sensor technologies and scenario modelling for stability and hydro-related effects. The developed approach shall be further used and offered as one of the services of the RE-ACTIVATE network. \nRegistration\nThe dialogue conference on Thursday\, 5 December 2019 is open for stakeholders from industry\, NGOs\, politics\, universities and research organisations\, and there is no registration fee. \nRegister here!
