SUMMARY:CICERONE workshop: Funding the circular economy in Europe
DESCRIPTION:CICERONE is pleased to announce it’s the second workshop\, “Funding the circular economy”\, on 19-20 November 2019 in Berlin\, Germany. \nThe two-day event will gather circular economy actors from governments (national\, regional\, city)\, policymakers\, businesses and academia\, to jointly work on ways to improve circular economy financing in Europe. \nThe first day of the event (19 November)\, organised by Berlin Partner\, will offer an organised tour of circular economy projects in Berlin\, providing an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn about – and experience -concrete initiatives in the city. This will be followed by a visit of the Weißensee Academy of Art and networking drinks in the evening. \nThe second day (20 November) will be dedicated to a hands-on workshop that will aim to: \n\nValidate circular economy key objectives and innovation fields at European level\nChallenge and validate the policy toolkit for circular economy financing\nDevelop and test a joint programming platform for funders of circular economy programmes\n\nThe workshop will be hosted in the innovative and dynamic Motion Lab spaces. \nClick here to download our Save the Date. \nRegistrations and a detailed agenda will open in September. To register your interest meanwhile\, please send us an email at contact@cicerone-h2020.eu \nAbout CICERONE project\nCICERONE is building a joint platform for efficient circular economy programming. If our societies are to make the switch to circular practices\, all actors need to be involved and actively commit to transitioning a more sustainable economy. This is why CICERONE works in close cooperation with a variety of practitioners including government bodies\, research & technology organisations\, civil society\, industry\, innovative SMEs\, startups\, cities and investors. \nLearn more about CICERONE project and EIT RawMaterials promoting research and innovation for the Circular Economy.

SUMMARY:Predemolition Audit for Circular Economy
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the PARADE EIT RawMaterials project seminar:\n “PREDEMOLITION AUDIT FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMY”\nA predemolition audit is an inventory of materials and components arising from future demolition or renovation projects and their management and recovery options. \nThis seminar provides information on the predemolition concept as a tool for increasing the high-quality recycling of construction and demolition waste\, and an important measure for avoiding spreading of hazardous materials in the environment due to improved demolition activity. Furthermore\, the seminar addresses future drivers and tools supporting the use of predemolition audits to achieve circular economy targets in the demolition sector. A special topic is also how to enhance the lifelong learning of professionals by creating an understanding of waste as a resource. \nThe background for this seminar is the PARADE-project “Best Practices for Pre-demolition Audits Ensuring High Quality Raw Materials”  (2018-19)\, which aims to develop life-long education materials on best practice for predemolition audit for improving C&D management (safe recycling)\, preventing unnecessary waste\, maximizing value/sustainable use. The project is a continuation of the DG GROW study on waste auditing\, in which VTT was involved. It is likely that the Commission will recommend member states to make waste audits mandatory in order to increase the quality of demolition/renovation waste for recycling. \nPARADE project is coordinated by VTT Ltd\, Finland and involves following partners: VITO (Belgium)\, VCB (Belgium)\, KU Leuven (Belgium) and TU Kosice (Slovakia). \nTarget group: \nThe seminar aims to bring together stakeholders from along the raw materials value chain representing demolition companies\, end-users of construction materials\, consultants\, scientists from universities\, research organizations and public authorities for discussing and exchanging views on  hazardous material inventories and construction and demolition waste as a future resource. \nSeminar material:\nThe presentations will be available to all participants after the workshop. \nCosts:\nThe workshop is financially supported by EIT RawMaterials PARADE project. Participation is free of charge but registration is required. Late cancellation after November 11\, 2019 or no-show will be charged 100 euro. \nRegistration: \nRegistration opens on September 30 and will end on 10 November 2019. For registration\, please click here. \nPlease find the programme here. \nFurther information: \nFor further information\, please contact Senior Scientist Margareta Wahlström (e-mail: Margareta.Wahlstrom@vtt.fi). \nWe look forward to seeing you in Brussels in mid-November!
