It will be the moment for all stakeholders to meet and co-create the strategic priorities for the European Commission’s investment in research and innovation. \nAt the same time\, the event aims to mobilise EU citizens and increase awareness of how important research and innovation are in addressing the challenges that face society. These are then more likely to yield results in line with their values and expectations. \nThe 2019 European Research and innovation Days will provide opportunities for stakeholders to come together\, deepen the dialogue and work across sectors and disciplines to help plan Horizon Europe. \nThe EU supports science and technological research\nResearch and innovation are at the core of Europe’s economy and are vital for a sustainable and successful society. \nEurope is renowned for its excellent scientific and technological research\, which has consistently been one of the EU’s top priorities. \nThe EU funds research and innovation in Europe through multiannual framework programmes. Around €200 billion has been invested in EU research and innovation over the last 30 years\, resulting in countless improvements to our quality of life \nFunding programmes\nThe EU’s main funding instruments for research and innovation in Europe are the successive multiannual framework programmes. \nThe current framework programme Horizon 2020 will be succeeded by Horizon Europe (2021-2027). \nThe success of these programmes has grown over the years. Every euro invested by Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe can potentially generate a return of up to €11 of GDP. \nEIT Community at the European Research and Innovation Days\nThe EIT will be involved in both the Policy conference and Innovative Europe Hub: \n24 September: Policy conference – The EIT: tackling global challenges by strengthening local innovation ecosystems \n26 September: Innovative Europe Hub – EIT: Powering Europe’s entrepreneurs \nEIT RawMaterials Innovation Community will be represented by Solvita Kostjukova\, CEO and Co-Founder of ALINA\, 2017 EIT Venture Award Nominee.
