SUMMARY:Course: Metal Injection Moulding
DESCRIPTION:The training will include both fundamental and practical aspects of the Powder Injection Mouldingtechnology (PIM)\, from the powder and feedstock development\, to debinding and sintering. \nIn the first day one hour lectures will be given by academic experts to cover an overview of Powder Metallurgy and Powder Injection Moulding\, as well as lectures to cover most of the single steps in the PIM technology. Two horizontal topics will be also included one related to materials characterisation and a session devoted to “team working”. \nIn the second day the training will be focused in the specific characteristics of the PIM technology applied to different materials families\, such as steels\, special alloys\, light alloys\, hard materials and ceramic materials. A topic related to molds and parts design will be covered by an industrial expert. During the second day\, some exercises to be performed by the students in the format of team work will be prepared. \nThe third and fourth days will be devoted to lab work\, covering the different steps of the PIM technology and a trip to an industrial company (Alfa-MIM). \nFinally the last day of the training will be focused on some special features such as “special PIM methods”\, cost related issues and future developments. These topics will be covered mainly by industrial experts. This last day there will be time for the students to present their results from the team exercise\, as well as to perform the evaluation. \nFor more information on Metal Injection Moulding\, EPMA has a short introduction here. \nRegistration Deadline: 1 June 2019 \nSee the course programme and register here! \n\nAbout PM Life\n\n\nPM Life is a training programme supported by EIT RawMaterials to help develop the future of Powder Metallurgy and help provide a comprehensive training course to help you take the next step in your career. You can choose to attend the full programme or select specific modules if you would like to know more information about a specific topic.

SUMMARY:2-day course on Waste Management and Critical Raw Materials
DESCRIPTION:The free 2-day course “WM-CRM: Blended learning course on Waste Management and CRMs” from Ghent University\, taking place on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 September 2019 at Campus Coupure (Ghent\, Belgium)\, is open for registration. \nThe course focuses on waste management and critical raw materials (CRMs)\, with special attention paid to Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Nowadays\, the management of critical raw materials is of increasing concern in Europe. A crucial strategy to address their supply risk is improving their recovery at the end of life of products that contain CRMs. In this context\, the course offers a broad overview of these topics and includes practical exercises. \nTo sign up or for any questions\, please send an email to david.sanjuandelmas@ugent.be. The course is free of charge for participants. Lunch\, coffee and tea are included. \nEarly sign-up is recommended due to a limited capacity of 12 participants.
