SUMMARY:Course: Hot Isostatic Pressing
DESCRIPTION:Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is a process to densify powders or cast and sintered parts in a furnace at high pressure (100-200 MPa) and at temperatures from 900 to 1250°C for example for steels and superalloys. The gas pressure acts uniformly in all directions to provide isostropic properties and 100% densification. \nIts positioning is very complementary to other powder metallurgy (PM) processes such as Metal Injection Moulding (MIM)\, pressing and sintering\, or additive manufacturing technologies. It is even used in combination with these PM processes for part densification and the production of semi finished bars or slabs. \nHIPs capabilities include large and massive near net shape metal components such as oil & gas parts weighing up to 30 tonnes\, or net shape impellers up to one metre in diameter. SUMMARY:ECOPADS workshop: Non-exhaust vehicular emissions
DESCRIPTION:New challenges for road transportation and urban management\nIn the framework of the upscaling European project: ECOPADS – Eliminating COpper from brake PADS and recycling\, funded by EIT RawMaterials\, the Project consortium is organizing an international workshop on one of the key issues that inspired the Project action: reducing and certifying particulate matter emission from vehicular brake systems. \nThis is an aspect that is gaining more and more pace for two main reasons. In the first place\, the reduction in exhaust emissions has resulted in a relative increase of the emission budget from other sources associated with vehicular traffic: brakes\, but also tires and road asphalt. In the second place\, all these emissions will be there also when\, in the end\, the present vehicle fleet will be fully replaced by electrical vehicles. \nTherefore\, non-exhaust vehicular emissions are an issue as concerns the present policies and urban management regulations. In the long run they will continue to be an important reference also as concerns product certification\, driving the research for low emitting vehicle parts. \nThese aspects will be discussed during the Workshop thanks to the contributions of leading experts in EU regulations\, urban environmental monitoring\, non-exhaust emission characterization.
