SUMMARY:Course: Hot Isostatic Pressing
DESCRIPTION:Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is a process to densify powders or cast and sintered parts in a furnace at high pressure (100-200 MPa) and at temperatures from 900 to 1250°C for example for steels and superalloys. The gas pressure acts uniformly in all directions to provide isostropic properties and 100% densification. \nIts positioning is very complementary to other powder metallurgy (PM) processes such as Metal Injection Moulding (MIM)\, pressing and sintering\, or additive manufacturing technologies. It is even used in combination with these PM processes for part densification and the production of semi finished bars or slabs. \nHIPs capabilities include large and massive near net shape metal components such as oil & gas parts weighing up to 30 tonnes\, or net shape impellers up to one metre in diameter. Equally it can be used to make small PM HSS cutting tools\, such as taps or drills made from PM HIP semi-finished products\, which can weigh less than 100 grams\, or even very tiny parts such as dental brackets. \nAs a result\, HIP has developed over the years to become a high-performance\, high-quality and cost-effective process for the production of many metal (or ceramic) components. \nFor more information on Hot Isostatic Pressing\, EPMA has a short introduction here. \n\nRegistration Deadline: 1 April 2019 \nSee the course programme and register here! \n\nAbout PM Life\n\n\nPM Life is a training programme supported by EIT RawMaterials to help develop the future of Powder Metallurgy and help provide a comprehensive training course to help you take the next step in your career. You can choose to attend the full programme or select specific modules if you would like to know more information about a specific topic.

SUMMARY:Summer School ECOPADS 2019: From linear to circular thinking
DESCRIPTION:Policies\, business models & additive manufacturing\nIn the framework of the upscaling European project: ECOPADS – Eliminating COpper from brake PADS and recycling\, funded by the EIT RawMaterials\, the Project consortium is organizing a summer school aiming at discussing and promoting some of the central themes of the EIT RawMaterials\, like circular economy\, product sustainability\, LCA and LCCA. \nThe target audience of the School will be a mix of research students\, researchers and industry professionals with technology and economy based cultural background. This choice is meant to promote stimulating and fruitful interactions\, that will be particularly exploited in the teamwork and game activities\, both of them central in the program of the School.\nThe School program is completed by a full day dedicated to additive manufacturing technologies\, organized within the strategic research project\, AIMI 4.0 – Additive and Intelligent Manufacturing for Industry 4.0\, financed by the University of Trento. \nThis thematic event is meant to illustrate the potentials and development perspectives that this wide-spreading technology is affording to industrial production. \nThe participation in the School is free but the registration is mandatory.\n30 places available \nRegister by 14 June 2019

SUMMARY:Talk Nerdy To Me - A Science Communication Bootcamp
DESCRIPTION:Following up from the successful Talk Nerdy To Me 2018\, the RawMaterials Academy will organize a 2019 edition of the science communication bootcamp. \nAre you a researcher (Master’s level or above) in the field of raw materials and its related disciplines who would like to learn how to pitch\, present and effectively communicate your research to policymakers\, investors and your peers? Are you eager to build your network within the EIT RawMaterials Community and find out more about the activities we have to offer? If you are not yet part of the EIT RawMaterials Community\, this is your chance to get to know this unique network! \nEIT RawMaterials\, together with RWTH Aachen University and TU Clausthal\, is organising the event Talk Nerdy To Me from 1 to 4 July 2019 in Goslar\, Germany.\nThere are only a limited number of places available – priority will be given to Upscaling researchers and EIT Label students. \nSubmit your application by 10 May 2019 via the registration page! All applicants are requested to summarize their background and motivation to participate in the event in a short text (max. 300 words). \nAfter 15 May 2019\, we will inform all applicants of the results. \nThere is no registration or participation fee- all transportation\, accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered by the EIT RawMaterials Academy! \nFind more details here!
