SUMMARY:Spring School on Circular Economy
DESCRIPTION:The Spring School on Circular Economy is organised in collaboration with the EIT RawMaterials funded Raw Materials Scenario (RaMaScene) project. The lead organiser is Leiden University’s Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML)\, and the school is supported by KU Leuven and the University of Bordeaux. The programme in short consists of: \nA total programme of 4 days\, plus one day of arrival and welcome reception. \n\nTwo days of introduction to tools like Life cycle assessment\, Material flow analysis\, and Input Output analysis\, and exercises with the RaMaScene tool\, that helps students to build circularity scenarios and make rough calculations on economic and environmental benefits. This part is given not only to the cohort of 15 PhD students\, but also to about 10 professionals that join this part of the course\nOne day of classes into circular economy policy making\nOne day that combines career counselling\, a review of grant options for young researchers\, exchanges on their own PhD\, and support in writing an outline postdoc proposal.\n\nAttendance is free and a selection process will take place. \nFor full details of the course\, visit our course directory\, and to apply for a place click here.

DESCRIPTION:Turn your innovative idea into a budding business!\nWelcome to our joint EIT Jumpstarter Competition 2019 organised by EIT RawMaterials\, EIT Health and EIT Food! EIT Jumpstarter Competition is an innovation contest aiming to reach out\, identify and support the best ideas from researchers\, professionals and early-stage start-ups\, with a potential impact in the Raw Materials Value Chain. \nGet engaged with Europe’s largest thematic innovation networks (EIT RawMaterials\, EIT Health\, EIT Food)\, learn how to validate your business concept\, develop your business plan and pitch your idea to future investors. You will learn how to get started on building a business in a unique cross-industry environment: how to build a team\, business processes\, organizational design. The primary focus is on quantitative business model building. At the end of the program\, graduates will prepare their pitch deck\, business model canvas\, competitive landscape\, go-to-market strategy\, roadmap. \nPhase 2: Bootcamp and Coaching\nThe applicants selected in Phase 1 of the EIT Jumpstarter 2019 were invited to participate in a 2-day Bootcamp\, where they will be trained on fundamental business skills (business modelling\, pitching etc.). At the end of the Bootcamps\, EIT RawMaterials will evaluate the pitch decks and the pitches and based on those will invite the best 50% of the participants to continue in Phase 3. \nThe first Bootcamp will take place in Riga\, Latvia. \nThe winners of the EIT Jumpstarter 2019 will receive a prize and will be involved in various events organised by the EIT RawMaterials\, and have an opportunity to network with the world’s largest community in the raw materials sector. \nLearn more about the EIT Jumpstarter 2019 here.
