SUMMARY:EIT RawMaterials at the Governance and Policy within Mining and Metallurgy EU Regions workshop
DESCRIPTION:This will be the first in a series of high-level policy workshops\, focusing on the future of mining and metallurgy sectors in European regions. This one-day event will provide a platform for the exchange of best practices between high-level representatives of EU regions\, with the aim of exploring ways for a common mining approach to raw materials in Europe and fostering discussions on sustainable mining strategies. Furthermore\, it will explore links with existing EU initiatives on raw materials\, mining and metallurgy at regional level. \nObjectives:\n\nDiscuss a European roadmap by exchanging best practices on how to foster sustainable mining through Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3);\nSet up a European-wide mirror of regions considering mining and metallurgy within their Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3);\nCreate a large-scale demonstrator between EU regions boosting mining and metallurgy\, covering everything from primary to end-user applications\, to ensure the main industrial value chanis’ core of the economic engine;\nCluster and interlink present EU initiatives on raw materials\, mining and metallurgy at regional level.\n\nEIT RawMaterials at MIREU High-Level workshop\nDr Karen Hanghøj\, CEO\, Managing Director of EIT RawMaterials\, will be a keynote speaker at the workshop (at 10:20-10:40). SUMMARY:EIT RawMaterials Proposers Day - Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:EIT RawMaterials partners are encouraged to take advantage of Proposers Days\, which are networking and consultancy meetings held across the EIT RawMaterials community (not Innovation Hub (CLC) specific)\, with a primary focus on facilitating the development of project ideas across the community into strong proposals. \nThe first Proposers Day will be held on 15 January at OpenLab (Valhallavägen 79) in Stockholm\, Sweden.\n\nThe Proposers Days should allow partners to meet and network with a larger number of partners across the community\, and also discuss their initial or matured project ideas with teams of EIT RawMaterials staff. The staff teams are composed of Senior Advisors\, Business Development Managers\, Education Managers and Innovation Hub Directors – and are composed of EIT RawMaterials staff from across – Innovation Hubs (CLCs) – in order to facilitate other views and opportunities for project ideas. Proposal Days also aim at facilitating interaction between partners from different Innovation Hubs (CLCs) and should serve to identify partnerships across Europe on project ideas. They can even provide the possibility/facilities for holding the first meeting (which is mandatory for KAVA proposals) amongst partners from different Innovation Hubs (CLCs) that are working on developing project ideas into proper strong proposals. \nThe Proposers Days are arranged as yearly cross-community events and will take place at various geographical travel-hubs and locations in Europe. SUMMARY:RawMatCop Seminar: Building skills and Earth observation-related expertise in the raw materials sector
DESCRIPTION:The RawMatCop 2018-2020 Programme is a three-year action funded by the European Commission/DG GROW as a result of the call Copernicus Building Skills Actions. RawMatCop aims to develop skills\, expertise and applications at the intersection between Copernicus/Earth Observation data and services for industries in the materials sector. \nRaw materials\, especially critical raw materials (CRM)\, are essential to fuel an increasingly technology-based economy. The supply of raw material must be safe and sustainable and must fit into a circular economic system. Following these premises\, there are currently 5 RawMatCop postdoctoral projects\, to study applications of remote sensing techniques to the raw material exploration\, extraction and rehabilitation. In this seminar we will present briefly\, 5 minutes each\, the RawMatCop and the 5 projects: \n\nRawMatCop Programme\, by Nathan Hard\, EIT RawMaterials.\nGeospatial mining transparency through Copernicus and MapX (CopX)\, by Elsy Ibrahim\, University of Liege\, Belgium.\nIntegration of space-borne remote sensing data with geophysical and geological data for exploration of IOCG mineralizations\, by Thorkild M.
