SUMMARY:2-day Risk&RACE Game Manager Training
DESCRIPTION:The Risk&RACE game offers an exciting and hands-on way to learn about the opportunities and challenges of the circular economy. It introduces players to entrepreneurial decision making\, resource efficiency strategies and circular economy business models. And of course\, it is also fun and challenging\, just as a game should be! The game was developed during the FOSTER-ERM innovation project supported by EIT RawMaterials in a partnership between VITO NV\, Wuppertal Institute\, VTT and TU Delft. The final version of Risk&RACE was the result of further game development and redesign by VITO NV. It was tested extensively with entrepreneurs\, companies and students. \nRisk&RACE is now available for a wider audience in a train-the-trainer module!\nAre you a lecturer\, trainer or consultant\, or do you organise in-company training and is circular economy one of your interest domains? Subscribe to the 2-day train-the-trainer module and become a Risk&RACE game master yourself! \nDuring the training\, you will learn the basic principles of the circular economy and you will get an in-depth insight into how these principles were incorporated in Risk&RACE. You will learn how to set up and moderate a workshop and how to manage the debriefing and processing in order to provide your students\, co-workers or clients with an optimal learning experience. DESCRIPTION:For the first time in history\, the majority of people live in cities\, and the urban population continues to grow. This has created a great need for more efficient\, sustainable\, and smart city solutions\, which can be brought up by creative collaborations between academia\, public and private sector. \nAIMday for Sustainable Cities has the aim to bring academic researchers\, public\, non-profit organisations and industry representatives\, all interested in sustainability\, closer. \nThe goal is to identify new interests/challenges and initiate new projects in the field of sustainable development related to the cities we live in. \nThe AIMday for Sustainable Cities will focus on four main thematic areas which are:\n\nEnviro Technical Sustainability such as: materials\, energy\, environment\, digitalisation\, Internet of Things\, buildings and infrastructure\, safety.\nSocial Sustainability such as: integration\, equality\, safety\, security\, well-being\, habits\, unemployment\, health\, accommodation\, working environment\, lack of education poverty\, urban sociology.\nSystemic Sustainability such as: behavioral change\, climate change\, sustainable growth\, sustainable business models (ownership\, circular\, shared economy models)\, resource efficiency\, recycling\, city planning.\nInterdisciplinary projects crossing over the thematic areas above.\n\nOver the day will be explained existing co-financial opportunities to be provided by Uppsala University and other actors! \nRegistration\nThe number of participants will be limited\, therefore feel free to register your interest already now! \nRegistration for companies and organisations is open and closes on 13 September 2018. \nRegistration for academic scientists will open on 16 September and closes on 8 October. \nPlease follow the link to learn more about the registration process. \nRegistration for all participants is free of charge – fika and lunch included. \nRead more about how AIMday works.

SUMMARY:Expert Forum - Sustainable Materials for Future Mobility: E-drives\, Magnets\, Batteries
DESCRIPTION:The Expert Forum on Sustainable Materials for Future Mobility. E-drives. Magnets. Batteries will take place on 23-24 October 2018 in Darmstadt. The goal of the event is to trigger cross-value chain interaction and the formation of consortia that drive innovation through specific projects. \nWe will kick-off the event through presentations on market demands and funding opportunities\, including the EIT RawMaterials Lighthouse Programme with dedicated resources available. \nDay 1\nThe event is part of the European Battery Alliance initiative. There will be keynote presentations on Battery Raw Materials\, Advanced Materials and Cells\, and Sustainable Batteries. In breakout sessions\, we will discuss how we can join forces and develop specific project ideas particularly when it comes to Cross Value Chain Alliances\, Demonstration Projects for Raw Materials Extraction and Processing\, Advanced Battery Materials and Cells as well as Ecolabel and Sustainable Sourcing. SUMMARY:Workshop: How to Use Quantum Mechanical Simulations to Design Materials
DESCRIPTION:Do not miss the chance to learn what QM-FORMa can offer to help you with designing materials and applying quantum mechanics to solve industrial challenges!\nQM-FORMa invites you to a Workshop to learn about how quantum mechanical simulations can elevate the design of materials. \nThe workshop is a satellite event to the Expert Forum on Sustainable Materials for Future Mobility. \nAbout QM-FORMa\nQM-FORMa is a network of world-leading experts who can design new materials\, using first principles Quantum Mechanics calculations. The QM-FORMa is a project supported by EIT RawMaterials. \nUsing Quantum Mechanics to design materials is a new approach. In practice\, there is little research into producing new materials because it requires costly\, time-consuming lab work. Now computers have the capacity to perform sophisticated quantum mechanics calculations – and so can design new materials that are tailored to specific needs. \nThe potential impact of QM-FORMa’s services is faster innovation rates and better products. Companies can gain a competitive edge finding substitute materials\, e.g. copper in brake pads or cobalt in cutting tools. \nTherefore\, all companies need to act in order to: \n\navoid the risk of being blocked out of markets by competitors who have patents;\nprovide products that have lower health risks;\nincrease the sustainability rating of their supply chains;\nensure access to (critical) raw materials.\n\nRegister here!
