DESCRIPTION:The World Materials Forum is an international symposium attended by industrial decision-makers (both producers and users of materials)\, researchers\, public policymakers\, journalists and hi-tech start-ups in the materials sector. \nThe theme for the World Materials Forum 2018 is The Future of Materials: Use Smarter\, Less and Longer. \nWorld Materials Forum Start Up Challenge\nThis year two of the EIT RawMaterials supported start-ups\, REIN4CED and Ajelis are nominated for the Start Up Challenge. \nThe nomination confirms REIN4CED composite material innovation in developing lightweight and high-impact resistant bicycle frames that are sustainable and materials that increase frame lifetime. \nAjelis develops sorbent systems that can selectively capture metals in hydrometallurgical processes. The company has developed expertise in strategic metals\, particularly rare-earth elements as well as lithium separation from magnesium or other bivalent pollutants. \nCongratulations to our start-ups and good luck! \nLast year Keey Aerogel\, supported by EIT RawMaterials\, was one of the winners of the Start Up Challenge. You can find more about the 2017 nominees here. \nEIT RawMaterials Partnership\nAmong the partners attending\, BRGM with its expert knowledge on mineral raw materials and their management\, is a member of the organising committee. DESCRIPTION:On 29 June\, EIT RawMaterials and Associazione Mineraria Sarda (AMS – Sardinian Mining Association) are pleased to invite you to the Joint Workshop in Iglesias\, Italy. The event is organised in collaboration with CNR\, ASTER and SCOOL. \nIglesias is located in the Sulcis-Iglesiente area\, in Sardinia region\, known for mining and mineral processing activities\, dating back to ancient times\, now mostly dismissed. The event will open the 5th AMS Symposium “Mining Activities in the Mediterranean Region”\, and will be the occasion to bring together university\, research and industry to discuss how innovation could support exploration and mining in challenging environment.The agenda of the Joint Workshop and the registration form are available here\, together with the complete program of the 5th Symposium and some suggestions for accommodation in Iglesias. \n
