SUMMARY:ATHY - A Lifelong Learning Intensive Short-Course on Hydrometallurgy
DESCRIPTION:The University of Liège is organising a 4-day intensive Lifelong Learning short-course in Hydrometallurgy\, entitled ATHY. \nATHY will bring together renowned international experts from Europe\, Canada and South Africa\, coming both from academia and industry. \nThe first days are dedicated to in-depth lectures on the various unit operations of hydrometallurgy (Leaching\, Solvant Extraction\, Electrochemistry\, Precipitation\, Biometallurgy\, Process Mineralogy) giving the participants a tool box to understand and develop hydrometallurgical processes. The following days are dedicated to specific case studies (Hydrometallurgy of Zn\, Cu\, Co-Ni\, PGEs from Mining to Recycling) illustrated by industrial partners. \nRegistration\nPlease follow the link to register. \nIf you have any questions regarding the ATHY course\, please send an email to David Bastin at david.bastin@ulg.ac.be \nProgramme\nFor more information about the programme\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Leiden Asia Year: EU-China Seminar on a Circular Economy
DESCRIPTION:China and the European Union are economies that rely heavily on imports of large amounts of resources. For instance\, in relation to its large infrastructural investments\, China now uses about 50% of the cement and steel globally. Both China as the EU have strong policies in place that stimulate an efficient raw materials management\, resource-efficiency\, and a circular economy. \nCML leads a project on International Intelligence on Circular Economy Business opportunities between the EU and China (IntCEB)\, funded by EIT RawMaterials. Prior to an IntCEB meeting between European and Chinese experts\, a public evening seminar will be organised on the Circular Economy in the EU and China. The seminar will feature some prominent Chinese scientists working on a circular economy\, next to prominent experts from the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Sustainability on the same topic. The seminar is free of charge an open for all who are interested. The seminar is organised in the context of the Leiden Asia year with the additional support of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Sustainability (CfS). \nThe event is organised by Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML)\, Leiden University\, with the support of the IntCEB project of the EIT RawMaterials and the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Sustainability. \nAgenda and Registration\nSee the event agenda and register here.
