SUMMARY:Short Course: Introduction to Mineral Production
DESCRIPTION:The short course aims at providing a common understanding of mineral production under a holistic value chain perspective and by considering the different periods of time of a mine’s life cycle. The course gives an introduction to process technology and by conveying general awareness of existing technical constraints with regard to both material and process. The level of detail has been adapted to the needs of a non‐technical target audience. \nLearning outcomes\nAfter completion of the course\, participants should be able to: \n• Describe different mineral resources (ore types\, minerals) \n• Explain the different steps in developing a mine project \n• Describe the major unit operations that are used within ore dressing and mineral production \n• Discuss the environmental\, social and economic dimensions of sustainable mineral and metal production \nRegistration\nRegistration or inquiries by sending an e‐mail to Prof. Jan Rosenkranz\, jan.rosenkranz@ltu.se\, by 17 November 2017. \nWith your registration\, please also inform of any dietary constraints. A detailed course schedule and the venue of the course will be provided at the time of registration. SUMMARY:Cross-KIC EIT RIS Dialogue Conference in Košice\, Slovakia
DESCRIPTION:Innovation has a prominent role in Europe’s efforts to tackle major societal and environmental challenges. It is essential to continue to work to create the right climate for innovation in Europe\, to help create new industries and jobs. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is working towards this objective through its operational arms\, the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs)\, by accelerating innovation and supporting the creation of the conditions where innovation is more likely to thrive and generate breakthroughs. It does so through the collaboration and interlinking of leading entities from higher education\, research and business areas\, which are the three sides of the Knowledge Triangle. \nThe EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is the EIT Community’s outreach scheme. The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme was introduced in 2014 to share good practices and experience emerging from the EIT Community activities and to widen participation in the KICs across Europe. \nIn order to reach out to Slovakia and the Slovakian ecosystem the EIT and its six KICs on Climate\, Digital\, Food\, Health\, InnoEnergy and RawMaterials would like to invite you to this Dialogue Conference. \nTake the chance to network\, learn about how to participate in EIT and its KICs\, participate at thematic sessions\, have conversations and face-to-face meetings with interested stakeholders\, discuss next steps for enhancement. \nAgenda and registration\nFor more detailed information and a registration\, please follow the link.
