SUMMARY:IMWA 2017 - 13th International Mine Water Association Congress – “Mine Water & Circular Economy – A Green Congress”
DESCRIPTION:Mining and reliable mine water management are of outstanding importance for the Finnish and worldwide mining industry. IMWA 2017’s Congress theme will be “Mine Water & Circular Economy” which will be presented in 243 oral and poster presentations. Circular economy means\, “closing the loop” of product life-cycles by improving recycling and re-use. In case of mine water\, this means that mining wastes and mine water are used to extract valuable materials\, such as metals\, fertilizers or adsorbents for waste water purification. \nFor more information\, please check the official website of the Congress. \nTo see the Congress agenda\, please follow the link. \nEIT RawMaterials at IMWA 2017\nEIT RawMaterials will participate with a conference booth with own staff and start-up companies. \nA half-day session on commercialisation of water-related research in the Mining and Minerals Value Chain will be organised by EIT RawMaterials. \nThe session gives leading water researchers and technology developers the opportunity for pitching presentations. This is a platform for KIC partners and other stakeholders to preview project proposals for potential EIT RawMaterials calls. \nThursday 29 June 2017 \n\n\n\n\nEIT RawMaterials will organise a matchmaking event where EIT RawMaterials partners and other IMWA participants can pitch and discuss project proposals together. The participants will also learn about current EIT funded water-related projects but the main emphasis is on new project ideas for the next EIT RawMaterials call. Please book a slot for pitching your idea when registering to the Congress. EIT RawMaterials partners will also have access to the other IMWA parallel sessions during the day as well as the conference dinner. \n\n\n\n\n\n8:30 – 9:00            Keynote: EIT in Europe\, Olli Salmi (Arena)\n10:00 -10:10         EIT RawMaterials introduction & welcome (Saimaa)\n10:15 – 10:45       Up-scaling project case study\n10:50 – 12:40       Pitching presentations\n12:45 – 14:45       CLC Baltic Sea Steering Committee Meeting (Lunch cabinet)\n19:00 – 22:00       IMWA Congress Dinner (Arena)\n\nFriday 30 June 2017 \n\n\n\n\nEIT RawMaterials welcomes you on a field trip to visit the Outotec Dewatering Technology Centre and Lappeenranta University of Technology facilities. We will start in the morning at the Congress venue and return you to the train station in the late afternoon. \n\n\n\n\nMorning: \n\nSite visit to Outotec de-water technology centre\nVisit Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) facilities\nLunch at LUT\n\nAfternoon: \n\nDeparture\n\nOptional (at own cost): \n1 – 3 July 2017 \nPossibility to participate in mine visits\, GTK Outokumpu pilot facility etc. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration\nPlease register by 8 June 2017 at the latest here. \nCode: IMWA2017-EIT-(Personal Conftool User Number)\, e.g. IMWA2017-EIT-1234 \nOnce you created a Conftool account\, you will receive your Personal ConfTool User Number to be used in the registration.
