DESCRIPTION:Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining School – DIM ESEE 2016 is now open for participants. \nSubtopic: “Innovative approaches to blasting” \nVenue: Inter University Centre Dubrovnik\, Croatia \nDate: October 23 – 28 2016 \nTarget group: Postgraduates\, academicians\, professionals \nOrganised by: University of Zagreb & Montanuniversitaet Leoben \n              \nSummary: \nThe first edition of the DIM 2016 is focused on advanced methods and innovative approaches to blasting. The course will begin with roundtable “Challenges in the Society” on the importance of the wider societal and economic acceptance of drilling and blasting\, by educating mining engineers on the newest innovative\, tested techniques on environmentally friendly blasting. \nCourse is composed of several subunits discussing all critical aspects of blasting with numerous applicative examples: detonation theory and numerical modelling\, planning\, controlling\, modelling and measurements of fragmentation\, drill hole deviation\, initiation energies vs. velocity of detonation (ANFO/heavy ANFO blends)\, new primary initiating explosives\, OPSIN systems\,  legal framework of blasting\, blast design\, health safety and the environment and specific aspects of blasting. \nFinally\, a half-day on-site excursion is organised for participants at the nearby limestone quarry\, where demonstrations of discussed methodologies and explosives-types will be performed. \nDIM 2016 is a joint pilot project of the University of Zagreb and Montanuniversität Leoben based on strong international cooperation and industrial support of the two institutions. \nMore information about the program can be found on our official website.

DESCRIPTION:Come meet EIT RawMaterials at the 20th European Forum on Eco-innovation.  \nThe Forum will examine financing opportunities for eco-innovative SMEs and will showcase successful companies who have succeeded in attracting investors and growing their business. It will explore the enabling factors and challenges of transitioning to a circular business model and will address these through the lens of business\, finance and public sector. \nThe Forum will also provide an opportunity for participants from across Europe to: \n\nparticipate in a business-to-investors matchmaking session (this event will bring together the most promising companies\, active in several Eco-innovation sectors\, and “cleantech” investors in bilateral meetings);\nlearn about the innovative technologies with performance claims verified by the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV);\ndiscover the best performing eco-innovative companies showcasing their environmental and business accomplishments at the European Business Awards for the Environment Ceremony;\nfind out about successful eco-innovative projects funded under different EU funding programmes and financial instruments; and\ntake part in site visits to eco-innovative companies who have successfully turned investments into circular business models.\n\nThis event is jointly organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Environment and the Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Estonia. \nThe Forum will be accompanied by a special event: the Ceremony of the European Business Awards for the Environment. \nFor more information\, please click here.
