SUMMARY:Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining School – DIM ESEE 2016
DESCRIPTION:Dubrovnik International ESEE Mining School – DIM ESEE 2016 is now open for participants. \nSubtopic: “Innovative approaches to blasting” \nVenue: Inter University Centre Dubrovnik\, Croatia \nDate: October 23 – 28 2016 \nTarget group: Postgraduates\, academicians\, professionals \nOrganised by: University of Zagreb & Montanuniversitaet Leoben \n              \nSummary: \nThe first edition of the DIM 2016 is focused on advanced methods and innovative approaches to blasting. The course will begin with roundtable “Challenges in the Society” on the importance of the wider societal and economic acceptance of drilling and blasting\, by educating mining engineers on the newest innovative\, tested techniques on environmentally friendly blasting. \nCourse is composed of several subunits discussing all critical aspects of blasting with numerous applicative examples: detonation theory and numerical modelling\, planning\, controlling\, modelling and measurements of fragmentation\, drill hole deviation\, initiation energies vs. velocity of detonation (ANFO/heavy ANFO blends)\, new primary initiating explosives\, OPSIN systems\,  legal framework of blasting\, blast design\, health safety and the environment and specific aspects of blasting. \nFinally\, a half-day on-site excursion is organised for participants at the nearby limestone quarry\, where demonstrations of discussed methodologies and explosives-types will be performed. \nDIM 2016 is a joint pilot project of the University of Zagreb and Montanuniversität Leoben based on strong international cooperation and industrial support of the two institutions. \nMore information about the program can be found on our official website.

SUMMARY:Mining in challenging environments
DESCRIPTION:In order to discuss and prepare potential new KAVA projects on “Mining in difficult environments / Deep intelligent Mining” for the next KAVA call EIT and DMT welcome all interested partners of the KIC to participate in this brokerage event.\n\nTake the chance to present your own potential project ideas and to identify chances for participation in other potential projects! Discuss your possibilities to contribute to promising joint projects for mutual benefit and to the KICs mission!\n\nPartners of the whole KIC from all over the EU will participate. And all participating partners are invited to encourage potential task partners for respective project ideas within the scope of the event to join. Additionally\, we have invited members of the VDMA Mining Section (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau / Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) to participate\, to learn about EIT RawMaterials\, and to contribute.\n\nPlease register and send your project proposals until 18 October end of day latest! The number of participants is limited … and so is the number of possible projects to be presented.\n\nFor registration and more information\, please click here.
